Super Bowl 51!

The Super Bowl is one of our favorite times of year! Our talented shooting board artists drew frames for these spots that aired during the big game. We love seeing the concepts come to life!

One of our favorite spots of the night was David&Goliath‘s Kia commercial starring Melissa McCarthy and produced by MJZ, drawn by our own Josh Hayes. While many of the spots had a noticeable sentimental tone, we loved David&Goliath‘s way of incorporating humor into the serious issues McCarthy was protesting, getting from location to location in a new Kia Niro.

Another great car spot was Ford‘s “Unstuck” Commercial. This spot exemplified a great way of advertising multiple vehicles in one spot, from driving to bike sharing to electric self-driving cars.Peter Carpenter drew these boards, also for MJZ.

Go Daddy brought back 2016 with their Super Bowl spot. Created by Bullish, this spot gives a humorous nod to all things pop culture from last year, including Sneezing Panda, the Ice Bucket Challenge, and the gold/white or blue/black dress. Check out the video and frames drawn by Ivan Cat below:

A standout brand in the Super Bowl was T-Mobile, with four different spots during the game. Our own Dan Caplan drew the frames for “Unlimited Touchdown” starring Justin Bieber.

This year, Buick followed a similar formula for their Super Bowl spot as they did last year, this year’s starring Cam Newton and Miranda Kerr. Check out the spot below, produced by Tool of North America with boards by Sam Tung.

George Takei starred in this year’s Pizza Hut  commercial, which featured his famous phrase “Oh My!” See the many faces of George Takei, drawn by Ivan Cat below:
